What is FanBoost??

When I first started following Formula E I came across a page for the Formula E FanBoost, which I admit was something I automatically dismissed as a 'popularity contest' in which fans can vote for their favorite driver.
I was 'sort of' correct, but as it turns out there is a lot more to FanBoost than just handing out bragging rights to the winners.
Offering a level of fan engagement never before seen in motorsports FanBoost gives voters the chance to not only pick their favorite drivers in any given race, but fans also choose which drivers get a boost and not just in morale, but actual power. About 20% more to be exact.
But this power isn't permanent and must be used strategically.
FanBoost works by awarding the top three drivers - as voted by fans- a 5-second powerboost per car, which can be used at any time in the race (other than at the start). And while 5-seconds may not seem like lot of boost time it certainly could be a handy tool for a driver looking sneak past a rival, or boost lap times.
Fanboost really speaks to the innovation, excitement and possibilities that electric vehicle racing brings to the motorsports world. By comparison, imagine if fans could slip Formula 1 drivers a shot of nitrous 20-minutes before a race.
If you'd like to get involved voting opens 6 days before a scheduled race and results are announced 20-minutes before race time.
